Adding Relationship Statistics

pravins 13 posts

Hi,

While building my family tree, I was thinking that it would be great if one could see some statistics of one's relations in one's profile page. For example, it would be great to have a summary with the following information:

1. Total number of relatives
2. Total number of "blood relatives"
3. Total number of relatives per "degree of separation"

A related, nice-to-have feature is to have links in one's profile page, which will list all groups of relatives like the following:

Parents
Siblings
Children
Grand parents
Cousins
Maternal Uncles
Maternal Aunts
Paternal Uncles
Paternal Aunts

Cheers,
Pravin

Hi Pravin, I absolutely agree with having more relative links in one's profile page.  I can promise this will be coming in the near future.

Regarding points 1 and 2, the real goal of AppleTree is connect everyone into 1 big family tree of the world.  So the answers will eventually be very large.  Hmm, that's not a bad thing of course.  I like this.  You'll likely see the numbers small until we finally match someone to the big family tree and then the numbers will suddenly make a drastic jump.  I had decided this information wouldn't be important given our goals, but I'm going to think about this.

The total number of relatives per degree of separation, is this really interesting?  What would get out of this series of numbers?
