DNA database pedigree synchronization

If AppleTree wants to get into DNA they could provide a valuable "multi-tree" service for the community.

My Y Chromosome and MtDNA profile from samples taken by Sorenson Molecular Genealogical Foundation is posted in GeneTree.Com and SMGF.org along with my seven generation pedigree chart.

In addition I tested my Y and MtDna with FTDna.com and posted results on ysearch.org and Ancestry.Com.  As new autosomal tests become available the number of surnames in the 10th generation is overwhelming.

My challenge as a Family Tree Arborist is to keep my FamilySearch.org, Ancestry.com, and six other public trees current.  As they grow with new surnames on the maternal side the pedigrees stored on these DNA and Public Tree sites need to be updated.  It would be great to track and graph all these pedigrees in one place.

This would help in keeping track of matches contact information and connect cross tree matches for synergistic research oppurtunities.

Hi Michael, I very much appreciate your suggestion.  We've given a lot of thought to DNA and how it can help build the family tree of the world more accurately and faster.  FamilyTreeDNA and Sorenson provide great services in this area and we're figuring out the best way to incorporate DNA into our tree to provide a kind of scaffolding in addition to linking people together that otherwise wouldn't have been known to be immediately related.

The idea of tracking results from other DNA services and incorporating that into our tree is definitely appealing.  It helps you track and visualize all of the matches, contact people easily and see the matches in the context of our overall tree (you have the same maternal ancestor as Britney Spears).  Additionally, it helps build the overall tree.
